IITMAANA Northern California Chapter organized a panel discussion titled "View from the Top" at Cupertino, CA on July 9, 2006.
The panel discussion revolved around the topic of what it is like to be the CEO of a company and how to get there. The panel consisted of 5 distinguished CEOs - Ashish Mathur (South Asian Heart Center), Prem Uppaluru (Transera Inc), Subhash Chowdary (Aankhen Inc), Sudhakar Muddu (Kazeon Inc) and Ashok Santhanam - seasoned entrepreneurs who have vast experience in executing the role of a CEO. Ashok moderated the discussion.
Over 50 alumni attended the event. There were active discussions about many aspects of being a CEO. Many alumni were curious on the best career path to become a CEO. The importance of soft skills and networking was highlighted during the discussion. Different perspectives on the role of a CEO at different stages in the life of a company were shared by the panelists and the numerous CEOs or ex-CEOs in the audience.

After the panel discussion, there was a video presentation by the South Asian Heart Center (El Camino Hospital) about the high incidence of heart disease amongst South Asians and on methods to prevent it. Representatives from the Center were present at the venue to provide detailed information to the alumni.
Many alumni remained at the venue long after the event concluded. Apart from providing a good "View from the Top", this event was a great opportunity for the alumni to network.
